SDWA is working with organizations to provide relevant internships and thesis projects for students. The projects provide students with a significant enhancement of their understanding of integrating theory with practice.

From the opposite angle, the organizations providing this support to students benefit from more visibility and brand awareness among students within NUS and TUD. The internships also serve as an effective recruitment platform.

Memsys Clearwater

(Distribution and Research)
memsys memsys clearwater Pte. Ltd. was established in Singapore in 2008. It is a membrane desalination company which manufactures desalination units driven by waste-heat or solar energy. Since both pressure and temperature are low, the unit can be made of plastic instead of steel.

As part of a two-year research program led by the National Centre of Excellence in Desalination Australia (NCED) and hosted by Murdoch University, memsys clearwater distribution Pte. Ltd. will be testing its Thermal Driven Membrane Distillation in the Western Australian outback. The research aims to develop a suitable and sustainable desalination system for providing drinking water in remote areas, with a focus on reliability.

The desalination unit will produce drinking water from the groundwater of the West Australian outback. Both solar thermal energy and waste heat generated by small-scale power generators will be used as heat sources for the memsys unit.

On our student, Do Phi Bang

"The work he did had to do with softening of the groundwater (removal of hardness).

Do Phi Bang did a literature review and did chemical modeling with the program PHREEQC and found that phosphate is the major problem (inhabitation). Do described his findings in a good report.

We were pleased to have Do Phi Bang within our research department. He is an intelligent man who helped our colleges."
